Pukekohe dates back to the early 1800's, having one of the oldest rural church's in Auckland, providing a rare example of an intact mid-nineteenth century rural church. The Pukekohe east school commenced in January 1863, with lessons being held in the front of the church. Teaching commenced for the next 17 years until the school was constructed and in use by 1880. In 1947 the school was remodeled and is now known as Pukekohe East Primary School. The school has its own school bus which will come right past your door!
Pukekohe is a sizeable, self-sufficient country town. Motor Racing, Horse Racing and Garden Fresh vegetables - sold at the market every Saturday, golf, horse treks are major attractions There is everything here - a major centre for equestrian and motorsport events. The annual V8 International Supercar event, part of a championship series, is held at Pukekohe Park Raceway every April.
