Behind the scenes of every success story, you’ll find someone whose relentless work ethic, drive and passion is second to none. Sue Douglas is a such an example. She needs no introduction in the real estate world of South Auckland, with a solid reputation and a career now spanning over 25 years.
Growing up in rural South Auckland instilled a strong work ethic. Not one to do things by halves, Sue had three children in quick succession, as well as looking after three older step-children part time. Needing something more to do once the youngest went to school, Sue somehow “fell” into real estate, but never really thinking of herself as a salesperson. In early 1993 she began matching buyers and sellers, quickly finding the thrill of helping people achieve their dreams filled the desire to do something that mattered - she was 'sold' on a career in real estate.
Looking for constant improvement lead Sue to open her first franchise in 1998 - Ray White Manurewa. Later, Sue’s husband Wayne joined the business, and each of the children also spent time contributing to the growth of the family business, which flourishes today. Today, the Ray White Sue Douglas Group includes four thriving branches - Ray White Manurewa, Takanini, Drury and the strategically placed Karaka office. In this culturally diverse area, each chapter plays a significant role in helping people through property; bringing a genuinely professional real estate service to the South Auckland market.
Sue has an unwavering determination for improvement. She consistently challenges people to do the right thing and to be the best they can be. Her efforts have paid off - the Rising Star for Ray White NZ has come from Sue’s group of offices for the past three years in a row.
Ask Sue what she is most proud of, and she would say her ‘family’. The word describes not only her children, and now grandchildren, but also her growing Ray White family: a multifaceted group who work in a collaborative environment, forever encouraging each other to do better. Much of the group’s business today comes from existing clients referring their friends and family members - a true testament to high customer satisfaction.
In the words of Sue, herself: “Trust is essential, and reputation is everything.”
